I specialize in prehistoric archaeology of the Kashmir Valley and the western Himalayas, with a focus on Neolithic settlement patterns, material culture, subsistence economies, and cultural interactions with South, Central, and Inner Asia along ancient routes. My specific research interests include systematic landscape surveys, artefact analysis and interdisciplinary approaches, including radiocarbon dating, palaeoenvironmental proxies, palaeobotany, and ancient genetics to reconstruct chronologies, trace crop dispersals (e.g., cereals, millets, apples), and explore emerging themes like prehistoric mining, metallurgy, and agro-pastoralist landscapes.
